Cummings 3YO maintains winning Advantage

Saturday 18 February 2017, 1:32pm

A pattern of racing that has worked to perfection with in-form Tactical Advantage will be used to launch the three-year-old's entry into stakes racing.

Tactical Advantage confirmed himself one of the finds of the Sydney summer at Rosehill on Saturday, winning his fourth race in a row in the Spark Of Life Handicap.

The sprinter's latest victory marked an effortless progression from a maiden win at Canterbury in early December to his second success in Sydney Saturday metropolitan grade.

And now trainer James Cummings is likely to target the Darby Munro Stakes, a Listed race at Rosehill on March 28.

"We worked it out that he likes to have his runs spaced," Cummings's stable foreman Nacim Dilmi said.

Barrier trials have been an important part-up of Tactical Advantage's lead-in to his past two wins and the stable will keep the gelding on an identical schedule.

"The Darby Munro is a month away so he will have a barrier trial in between," Dilmi said.

Tactical Advantage, best backed to start $2.60 favourite, raced outside the leader Scarlet Rain ($5) before scooting clear from the filly for a 2-3/4 length win.

"He keeps him improving every time James races him and today was probably his best performance so there is a lot to like about him," jockey Glyn Schofield said.
