Showashadow overcomes scare to win

Saturday 18 February 2017, 2:21pm

Promising filly Showashadow has overcome a pre-race scare in the mounting yard to score a strong win at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

Showashadow ($5.50) sailed down the outside to beat Acceptile ($3.80) by a neck with three-quarters of a length to Paradis Imperial ($3.90) in Saturday's Cola Cola Two-Year-Old (1000m).

At one stage it looked as though the filly would not even make the start after she flipped over in the mounting yard with her jockey Jeff Lloyd lucky to escape injury.

The filly passed a vet's inspection at the barrier before being allowed to start.

Showashadow is one of more than a dozen winners the Peter and Will Hulbert training partnership has prepared for the Barr family from Lillivale Stud.

"We have had a lot of success with horses out of the Barr's mare Endless Maize but this one is out of another of their mare's Showracabey," Will Hulbert said.

"We prepared her as well but she wasn't much good on the track and we suggested the Barrs buy her as a broodmare as she had strong bloodlines."

"The Barrs are great clients and they have been with us for about five years so it is always good to win for them."

Showashadow picked up the QTIS and fillies bonus for the win meaning her total return on the day was $82,000.

The win was premier jockey Lloyd's 91st in Brisbane and his 115th overall for the season.

"Showashadow is a nice filly and she can win more races at a longer distance," Lloyd said.
