BRISBANE, March 14 AAP - Darling Downs trainer Shane Iverson believes the race conditions of Saturday's Sky Racing Plate at the Gold Coast will help offset a wide barrier for Going Going Gone.
The filly will attempt to make it four wins from four starts at the Coast but has drawn awkwardly in barrier 13 which Iverson concedes is a stumbling block.
"All races are hard and drawing wide is the downside but the upside is there are only three other runners that have won races and the set weights conditions are in her favour," Iverson said.
"She's basically a class three horse and the males are class one horses who have to give her weight."
Going Going Gone, a daughter of The Hammer, was ridden by leading apprentice Tegan Harrison when she scored at Eagle Farm on February 23 but Michael Cahill will be back aboard the filly at the Coast.
Cahill rode Going Going Gone at her previous two starts at Ipswich when the filly recorded dominant wins.
"She can get up on the pace and show tactical speed and finish her races off strongly which is a big asset," Iverson said.
"At her first start at Ipswich she won on a heavy nine then came out her next start there on a good three and won by even further so she seems to handle everything."
After working as a foreman for Barry Baldwin for several years, Iverson renewed his training licence in September last year when Going Going Gone's owner Greg Wagner offered him a training position at Bahram Stud near Toowoomba.
"It's more of a training centre these days with 110 horses in work and we've got sand and grass tracks to work on and they're in the process of building a water walker," Iverson said.
"It's nice and quiet and we can do everything we need here. The only time we need to leave the property is to go to the races or to Toowoomba for a barrier certificate."
After her Coast assignment, Going Going Gone will have a break before Iverson targets the Bollinger Classic and BRC Sires' Produce Stakes during the winter carnival.
