All The Talk races into Golden Slipper

Saturday 16 March 2013, 2:19pm

An excited bunch of first-time owners have celebrated All The Talk's win in the Skyline Stakes at Warwick Farm which has guaranteed the colt a Golden Slipper start.

Trainer Gary Portelli has had starters in the $3.5 million race but believes All The Talk represents his best chance yet to figure in the money.

Sent out at $4.80 in the Group Three Skyline (1200m), All The Talk was taken straight to the front by Brenton Avdulla and after being briefly challenged at the top of the straight, he raced away to an emphatic win.

Queenslander Octane Flyer ($26) made ground late to finish 3-1/2 lengths away with Dothraki ($9) another three-quarters of a length behind.

Favourite Good Job Bro ($2.70) weakened in the run home and was seven lengths from the winner in fifth place.

"It's fantastic," Portelli said.

"I'm so happy for the owners. They are all in their first horse and now they are in the Slipper.

"I thought he found plenty over the 1200 metres and they'll know he's there in the Slipper."

It was the second win from five starts for the son of 2005 Golden Slipper winner Stratum.

Last time out he finished fourth to Sweet Idea in the Silver Slipper on a heavy track.

"He was much better on top of the ground," Portelli said.

"I'm not sure what we will do now. He may race again or he may have a barrier trial instead.

"We'll just enjoy this before we make a decision."

The Golden Slipper (1200m) is at Rosehill on April 6.
