Teofilo’s son Humidor rallied late to claim the G1 Australian Cup over 2000m at Flemington on March 11. This is the second Group win for the consistent four-year-old, who placed second in the G2 Peter Young Stakes, and G3 TS Carlyon Cup earlier this year. 

Racing at the tail-end of the field under jockey Damien Lane, the Darren Weir-trained gelding demonstrated a superb turn of foot to power home down the outside of the straight, securing a stunning victory ahead of G1 winner and equal race favourite Jameka.

Bred by Jomara Bloodstock, Humidor is out of winning Zabeel mare Zalika, who is the dam of four winners from five foals to race and a half-sister to Stakes winner Heart Ofthe Desert.

Humidor becomes the twelfth G1 winner for his sire Teofilo, who sired 15 individual Stakes winners and seven Group winners last year alone. He joins top performers Kermadec, Palentino, Special Fighter and Quest For More as winners at the elite level for Teofilo.
