Golden Slipper meeting to go ahead

Friday 17 March 2017, 3:44pm

Officials are confident the Golden Slipper meeting will go ahead at Rosehill despite the forecast for continuing rain in Sydney.

The Australian Turf Club's general manager of tracks, Lindsay Murphy, said on race eve the western Sydney track could cope with more rain before Saturday.

"It hasn't been a bad day. We've had a lot of wind and not much rain," Murphy said.

"The forecast is for more rain but not a lot at Rosehill.

"The meeting will definitely go ahead as planned unless we get more rain on the day but hopefully it is coastal."

The $3.5 million Golden Slipper is the world's richest race for two-year-olds and one of five Group One races on Saturday's program which also features champion Winx in the George Ryder Stakes.
