Extreme Choice, Flying Artie off to stud

Friday 17 March 2017, 7:11pm

Group One-winning Mick Price-trained stablemates Extreme Choice and Flying Artie have been retired and will stand at Newgate Farm in the spring.

The two colts will join 2016 Golden Slipper winner Capitalist at Newgate with that colt's 2017 book already full.

"We feel honoured to be standing these very special colts," Newgate's director of stallions and sales, Bruce Slade, said

"They are the elite Australian two and three-year-old sprinters of their generation, the cream of the crop. They are horses with the exactly the right profiles to develop into champion Australian sires.

Flying Artie finished second to Extreme Choice in the Blue Diamond Stakes and third in Capitalist's Slipper and won the Group One Coolmore Stud Stakes in the spring.

Extreme Choice added the Group One Moir Stakes in September to his Blue Diamond win.

"It has been a privilege to train two colts as genuinely exceptional as Extreme Choice and Flying Artie," Price said.

"They will be missed in the stable, however they retire to stud as colts that have the potential to make a major impact on the Australian breeding industry."
