Chauffeur gains Golden Slipper start

Saturday 18 March 2017, 8:09am

First emergency Chauffeur has gained a start in the Golden Slipper with Invader failing a second veterinary test.

The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained colt was found to have a stone bruise on Friday and was given until Saturday morning to prove his fitness.

Chauffeur, from the Gerald Ryan stable, finished second to Golden Slipper favourite Houtzen in the Magic Millions Classic at the Gold Coast in January.

After almost 100mm of rain during the week, the Rosehill track is in the heaviest range possible but stewards say it is safe for racing.

More rain is forecast throughout the day which features five Group One races including the George Ryder Stakes with Winx the odds-on favourite.
