Six rivals to oppose Black Caviar

Monday 18 March 2013, 12:41pm

Champion mare Black Caviar will have a maximum of six rivals in her Melbourne farewell at Moonee Valley on Friday night.

The world's best sprinter is one of seven acceptors for the Group One William Reid Stakes (1200m).

She is also one of two from the Peter Moody team to have been paid up for the $400,000 race, with a firm decision to be made on stablemate Karuta Queen later this week.

Moody said Karuta Queen could be switched to Sydney for the Maurice McCarten Stakes if conditions at Rosehill suited her better.

Also in the William Reid, in which Black Caviar will attempt her 24th win from as many starts, are Good Ba Ba, Luckgray, Spirit Of Boom and Fawkner.

The Moonee Valley Racing Club is gearing up for a sell-out crowd of as many as 25,000 to witness Black Caviar's final run in her home state.
