Palentino retired to stand at Sun Stud

Tuesday 4 April 2017, 4:10pm

Dual Group One winner Palentino has been retired from racing and will stand at Sun Stud in Victoria in the upcoming breeding season.

The Darren Weir-trained four-year-old raced 18 times for five wins including his Group One victories in the 2016 Australian Guineas as an autumn three-year-old and the Makybe Diva Stakes as a spring four-year-old.

Both his elite level wins came at Flemington where he also won a Listed race during the 2015 Melbourne Cup carnival as well as the recent Group Two Blamey Stakes.

The four-year-old finished fourth in the $3 million Doncaster Mile on a heavy track at Randwick on Saturday in his final start.

Palentino's service fee will be announced in the coming weeks.
