Caloundra trainer Stuart Kendrick had a welcome change of luck when Marseille En Fleur flew home to win at Doomben.
Kendrick lost his promising stayer Margin Trader last week after it collapsed at the training track and died.
"I was a way for a couple of days and came back to that news. It was terrible luck for the connections," Kendrick said.
Some of the pain was eased when Marseille En Fleur ($18) scored by short neck to Friends ($16) with a long head to Starena ($41) third in a blanket.
Kendrick has a big opinion of Marseille En Fleur but believes she will be better once the trips get longer.
"Her dam was an Oaks horse so she should get over some ground," he said.
"We freshened her up for this but we will probably give her another little break before deciding what to do."
It was Kendrick's 68th winner for the season which has put him in second place on the Queensland trainers' premiership.
