A host of Golden Slipper contenders will press their claims in lead-up races at Rosehill on Saturday but several others kept their campaigns ticking over in barrier trials on Friday.
Peter Snowden and Gai Waterhouse, the trainers of the past two Slipper winners, sent two of their chances out at Randwick with the Snowden-trained Kuroshio beating stablemate Guelph by 1-1/4 lengths in a 1050m hitout.
Waterhouse's duo of Whittington and Sweet Idea contested separate 740m heats with Whittington second in his and Sweet Idea a narrow winner of her trial.
Snowden is confident he'll have both his charges spot on for the feature race on April 6 at Rosehill.
Guelph is the leading chance of Darley's Slipper-bound gallopers in the market at $17.
"We've got two weeks from tomorrow to get her ready and I feel confident we'll have her ready," Snowden told Sydney's Sky Sports Radio.
Kuroshio, a $51 Slipper chance, was a little bit keen early in the heat, according to Snowden, but trialled well also.
"He hasn't done a lot since his last start so he was a bit fresh this morning but I was happy with the way he pulled up," Snowden said.
The trainer hopes stablemate Sidestep "comes into the picture" for the Slipper when he runs in Saturday's Todman Stakes while Itameri will get her chance to qualify in the Magic Night Stakes a week later.
