A Classic target in Adelaide will come into focus for three-year-old Inflection if she can break her maiden status at Sandown on Wednesday.

The John Sadler-trained filly lines up in the Caulfield Easter Saturday Maiden Plate (1800m) and her performance will determine whether she continues towards next month's Australasian Oaks.

Inflection has been runner-up at her only two starts in Victorian provincial races and makes her city debut stepping up to 1800m for the first time.

The daughter of Shamardal is nominated for the Group One Australian Oaks (2400m) in Sydney but Sadler said that race wasn't on the radar.

Instead, the Australasian Oaks over 2000m is considered a more suitable Classic race to look to chase black-type with the lightly-raced filly.

"That is an option but she would want to be winning this race tomorrow," Sadler said.

"When you get any three-year-old that shows you a bit at home and runs a couple of nice races, then you've got to nominate them for those races because they don't get another chance.

"They are only three once."

The Australasian Oaks is on April 27 at Morphettville with the Group Three SA Fillies Classic, formerly the SA Oaks, two weeks later over 2500m, a race Sadler said was also an option.

Inflection has drawn well in barrier two for Wednesday's event which she goes into on the back of a last start second over 1400m at Ballarat.

"She's going to be a nice staying filly," Sadler said.

"Ideally I would like there to be a little jar out of the ground for her tomorrow. The boys that ride her in work think she's much better with a bit of give in the track, and we might not get that tomorrow."

Sandown was rated a dead (4) on Tuesday afternoon.

Sadler rates Inflection his stable's best chance on the Sandown card where he'll have three starters.

The trainer also has Van Rossum in the Sportingbet Handicap (1600m) and Ferguson in the Designer Coolrooms Handicap (1300m).
