A hoof injury has ruled star sprinter Hay List out of Saturday's Group One Galaxy at Randwick.
Chief steward Ray Murrihy confirmed the injury-plagued gelding would not take his place in the 1100m feature, robbing the race of its biggest drawcard.
Glyn Schofield, regular rider of the John McNair-trained sprinter, said he was disappointed he wouldn't be reuniting with Hay List on Saturday.
"John let me know he'd been battling the foot issue from since he last ran and John normally wins with these things," Schofield said.
"Hopefully John can get on top of it and get him right.
"It's very disappointing. I was so excited to be riding him because I knew how much he was going to improve from the other week."
Hay List finished fourth to Snitzerland in the Challenge Stakes last start, his first run in almost a year after he suffered life-threatening issues following his second to Foxwedge in the 2012 William Reid Stakes at Moonee Valley.
Connections remain hopeful he can overcome his latest setback in time for the Group One TJ Smith Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on April 13.
