The pedigree page will be trainer Gerald Ryan's ally in his quest for an optimum Golden Slipper result with Charlie Boy and Dothraki.
With Saturday's $3.5 million race almost certain to be run on a rain-affected track, Ryan is banking on breeding to boost the chances of his two Triple Crown Syndication runners.
Of the pair, the Rosehill trainer said he was more certain of Charlie Boy handling soft conditions after the colt finished third to Sweet Idea on a heavy track in last month's Silver Slipper.
"He ran well in the Silver Slipper first-up and he got better as the race progressed," Ryan said.
"He's by Myboycharlie who I think won his Group One in France in the wet."
Charlie Boy has fallen out of Slipper favour since he was ridden upside down when unplaced in the Todman Stakes.
But Ryan says he can find similarities between Charlie Boy and Snitzerland, the filly he trains who ran second to Pierro in last year's race.
"Snitzerland ran fourth in the Reisling and everyone dropped off her and she came out and ran second and this horse can do the same," he said.
To Ryan's eye, Dothraki presents as a genuine query in the wet but he is hoping breeding can help the promising colt.
"If you went on pedigree you would say he would (get through the going) because he's by Mossman out of a Flying Spur mare," Ryan said.
"But I don't know. He's a big horse, he's big actioned and you'd have to have your doubts."
Sweet Idea, one of three Gai Waterhouse-trained runners, will go into the race with the best wet track record after winning the Silver Slipper on a heavy surface.
As a result, one wagering operator reported $15 to $12 backing for the filly on Thursday.
