Mick Price will put the saddle on Atomic Force before Friday night's A J Moir Stakes, he'll issue the riding instructions and he'll be paid his percentage of any prizemoney the horse may win.

"But I'll take none of the credit," Price said.

Atomic Force joined Price's Caulfield stable this week having been trained for the bulk of his career by Darren Smith at Newcastle.

For Price he is a welcome addition to a team that is beginning to make its spring presence felt.

"I'm delighted to have him, especially when all the hard work has already been done," Price said.

While Atomic Force and Price are officially part of the same team for the first time on Friday night, horse and trainer aren't total strangers.

"He's been in our barn before when Darren's bought him down to Melbourne, so I know something about him," Price said.

The well-travelled Atomic Force is a Group One winner in Sydney and New Zealand where he scored his last victory on New Year's Day.

In two runs this time in he's finished fourth at Moonee Valley to Broken and last start was sixth of seven behind Tiger Tees in the Group Three Concorde Stakes (1100m) at Warwick Farm.

Price, not surprisingly, is tipping considerable improvement on Friday night.

"He's in beautiful order, he had a solid gallop at Newcastle on Saturday morning and has come to me in great shape," he said.

As well as putting the finishing touches on someone else's work this weekend, Price is looking forward to stepping his unbeaten four-year-old Callanish up from midweek class to a 1700m race at Caulfield on Sunday.

Price said he'd been tempted to run Callanish in the race won by Precedence at Moonee Valley last Saturday week, but was relieved he didn't.

Instead the horse went to Sandown last Wednesday where he won his sixth race from as many starts.

"This is a better race for him - the race is right and the horse is right," Price said.
