A day after riding a career-high five winners at Randwick, Kerrin McEvoy has been inducted into the South Australian Racing Hall of Fame.

McEvoy made the SA town of Streaky Bay famous when he won the 2000 Melbourne Cup on Brew as a 20-year-old.

Last year he won his second Melbourne Cup on Almandin and in between has ridden many Group One winners around the world as a retained rider for Godolphin in Europe and Australia.

McEvoy, who has now settled in Sydney as a freelance rider in great demand, was honoured for his achievements on Sunday.

As well as his two Melbourne Cups, McEvoy's 63 Group One wins include the 2008 Caulfield Cup on All The Good and the 2011 Golden Slipper on Sepoy.
