JOSH Adams has experienced the high and lows of racing within 24 hours after being slapped with a six-week suspension when he stopped riding second placegetter Magic Ray 100m from the line in a race at Moree.
Adams pleaded guilty to a charge whereby he was found to have stopped riding Magic Ray at the 100m mark of race two at Moree after the $1.70 favourite had established a healthy margin on the rest of the field.
Adams started riding his mount vigorously again at the 50m mark when eventual winner Lord Russel challenged Magic Ray.
In a tight finish, Lord Russel grabs Magic Ray in the shadows of the post to claim honours in R2 at Moree.
Lord Russel won the race by a nose in a very tight finish.
Stewards had no concerns with betting patterns on the race. Adams was handed a six-week ban, with the suspension starting on September 13 and expiring on October 25.
Stewards took into account his guilty plea as well as the fact the upcoming period included feature spring racing.
The ban comes less than 24 hours after Adams piloted Happy Clapper to victory in the Group 2 Tramway Stakes at Randwick on Saturday.
The ban means his association with Happy Clapper, which began in earnest on Saturday, will be over for the next six weeks at least.
