G1 winner Lasqueti Spirit to be rested

Monday 4 September 2017, 3:14pm

Group One winner Lasqueti Spirit will take no further part in the spring carnival after two disappointing runs.

The winner of the VRC Oaks in the spring after daring tactics by Brenton Avdulla to go to a big lead a long way out, Lasqueti Spirit has finished last in her two races this campaign, the Rowley Mile and the Chelmsford Stakes.

Trainer Lee Curtis said she had obviously not come up this preparation and would head to the spelling paddock with a view to an autumn return.

During her last autumn campaign, Lasqueti Spirit finished second to Winx in the Chipping Norton Stakes and third in the Australian Oaks won by Bonneval.
