Charlie Boy will be given the chance to tackle Overreach again in Saturday's Sires' Produce Stakes at Randwick.
The Gerald Ryan-trained colt finished eighth of the 16 runners after being crowded early in Saturday's Golden Slipper won in devastating style by the dominant favourite Overreach.
Ryan was pleased with how he pulled up after the Slipper and believes he will handle 1400 metres but stablemate Dothraki has gone for a spell.
Charlie Boy's debut win in November was the first in the southern hemisphere for first season sire Myboycharlie, a two-year-old champion in France.
Another Ryan stablemate, Zaba Zaba Doo, will run in the Kindergarten Stakes (1100m) with the Brisbane winter carnival on the horizon if he can repeat his debut win at Randwick last week.
"Charlie Boy will run in the Sires'. He has come through the Slipper really well," Ryan said.
"Zaba Zaba Doo runs in the Kindergarten. He's out of a Zabeel mare so I would expect him to be better later on but he won well so he deserves his chance."
Overreach will be joined in the Sires' by her stablemate Sweet Idea who ran third in the Slipper but Whittington, the other member of Gai Waterhouse's trio, has gone to the paddock.
Both Charlie Boy and Dothraki are raced by Triple Crown Syndications and while the Slipper wasn't fruitful, they came up trumps in Saturday's Group Three Sebring Stakes with Hot Snitzel.
The trainer sends out another Group contender for Triple Crown on Saturday with Flying Snitzel to run in the Carbine Club Stakes (1600m).
The filly beat Norzita in last month's Kewney Stakes with the latter winning Saturday's Group One Vinery Stud Stakes after finishing a close third in the Coolmore Classic.
