The annual Easter yearling sale kicks off in Sydney on Tuesday with the prospect of an Australian record when the half brother to Black Caviar goes through the ring.
Such is the interest in the colt, breeder Rick Jamieson is hoping to retain a share in him after selling both Black Caviar and another half brother, star three-year-old All Too Hard as yearlings.
"I'm certainly looking forward to tomorrow's sale and am very interested in discussing the potential to retain an interest in the colt with the successful buyer," Jamieson said.
Jamieson is also the owner of Derby contender Philippi and will be trackside on Saturday to watch him and also Black Caviar who runs in the TJ Smith Stakes in a bid for her 25th win.
The much-hyped colt by Redoute's Choice out of Helsinge is Lot 131 and is expected to go through the sale ring between 2.30 and 3.30pm.
The Australian record for a yearling a public auction is $3 million which has been reached twice - in 2006 and 2007.
The Australasian record is $3.6 million paid at the 2000 Karaka sale in Auckland for a Zabeel colt from the family of Octagonal who became Don Eduardo, winner of the 2002 Australian Derby.
The sale at the William Inglis complex will be shown on Channel 7 Two as well as racing channel TVN.
