A year after his biggest win, Epsom Handicap winner Hauraki has been retired.

The Godolphin-owned six-year-old had his last start in the Doncaster Mile earlier this year, finishing fifth behind stablemate It's Somewhat.

Over three seasons and 25 starts, Hauraki won five races and was placed another 11 times, earning more than $2.5 million.

He ran in 14 Group One races and as well as his 2016 Epsom win, he was placed another six times at the elite level.

"Horses like Hauraki are hard to find, and when they come along they are appreciated," Godolphin's Australian racing manager Jason Walsh said.

"He was a wonderful asset to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed's Australian stable and a credit to his sire Reset.

"As well as that, he was a favourite of everyone in the organisation. He was genuine, honest and talented racehorse who will be missed by us all."
