Winx in Melbourne ahead of Turnbull Stakes

Thursday 28 September 2017, 10:11am

Champion Winx has arrived safely in Melbourne ahead of her next scheduled race at Flemington.

The Chris Waller-trained mare travelled from her Rosehill base in Sydney to the trainer's Flemington stable on Wednesday night.

Winx, who registered her 20th straight win in the George Main Stakes at Randwick on September 16, is set to line up in the Turnbull Stakes (2000m) at Flemington on October 7.

It will be her final lead-up race for her attempt at a record-equalling third straight Cox Plate at Moonee Valley on October 28, with Kingston Town as the only horse so far to achieve the feat.

Waller says he's been very happy with her work over the past week which included a gallop on Saturday and again on Tuesday morning.

"I am extremely pleased with where her fitness levels are at and she will have a gallop next week to finalise her preparation before the Turnbull Stakes," Waller said.

Winx dominates betting on the Cox Plate and is the $1.40 favourite with Humidor the second pick at $13.
