Lorenseni escapes injury in Echuca fall

Monday 2 October 2017, 3:46pm

Comeback jockey Jarrod Lorenseni has been discharged from hospital following a race fall at Echuca.

Riding Dupo in a maiden race on Monday, Lorenseni fell around the 600m mark of the 1000m race.

A Victorian Jockeys' Association statement said Lorenseni had shoulder ligament damage but was cleared of any fractures following X-rays.

Lorenseni had two rides at Monday's meeting and had finished second on his earlier mount.

A former leading jockey in Adelaide, Lorenseni stepped away from race riding in 2007 before becoming a trackwork rider for Darren Weir in 2013.

Lorenseni has ridden mainly on the country circuit since returning, riding his first winner back at Warracknabeal on August 4.

He has since ridden another seven winners.
