Maher signs off for now with Echuca winner

Monday 2 October 2017, 5:21pm

Ciaron Maher has trained a winner with his last runner before starting a six-month suspension.

The Maher-trained See The Night won a maiden race over 1400m at Echuca on Monday.

Maher was last week suspended for six months and fined $75,000 by the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board over the ownership bona fides of five horses determined to be owned by convicted con man Peter Foster.

Warrnambool trainer Aaron Purcell takes over the reins at Caulfield on Tuesday and will saddle his first runner for the stable at Geelong on Wednesday.

He will run Stylish Missile in a three-year-old fillies benchmark 64 race along with one from his Warrnambool base, Ross's Point, in a benchmark 64 over 1755m.
