Craig Williams has continued to get to know Japanese stayer Admire Deus, galloping him at the Werribee quarantine centre for a second time ahead of the horse's Cups campaign.

Australian Bloodstock now own Admire Deus who has been transferred to leading trainer Darren Weir.

Williams went to Werribee on Tuesday morning to work Admire Deus, the second time he has done so in the past few days.

He also rode Admire Deus in a gallop in Japan before the horse entered quarantine ahead of the trip to Australia to get a guide on him as a possible mount in the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups.

"He's come on since Japan," Williams said.

"The horse is fantastic. He's moving lovely.

"His action is smooth and I'd say they've got him where they want him at this stage of his preparation."

Williams also went to Werribee on Sunday to ride Admire Deus in a light work-out.

"I think after having two sits on him now and the time I spent with him in Japan was good in my perspective," Williams said.

One of Weir's foremen Matt Scown has been looking after Admire Deus both in quarantine in Japan and at Werribee.

Williams said Scown has developed an rapport with Admire Deus over three weeks.

"Matt has been with the horse every day and he's got a really good handle on where the horse is at and the changes in him, good and bad," Williams said.

"They covered a lot of bases in his preparation before the horse arrived in Australia and I can see that benefit spending time with him."

Admire Deus is on the third line of Melbourne Cup betting at $15 with last year's winner Almandin the TAB's $6 favourite ahead of New Zealand mare Bonneval at $11.

Bonneval is the $5.50 favourite for the Caulfield Cup after her win in Sunday's Group One Underwood Stakes with Admire Deus at $17.
