Harry heads entries for Champions Sprint

Thursday 5 October 2017, 6:28am

Harry Angel, the world's highest-rated sprinter, is one of five Group One winners entered for the British Champions Sprint at Ascot.

The Clive Cox-trained three-year-old earned his ranking with victories in the July Cup at Newmarket and Sprint Cup at Haydock.

The four other Group One winners among the 25 entries are Caravaggio, who beat Harry Angel in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot, last year's Commonwealth Cup and Sprint Cup winner Quiet Reflection, defending titleholder The Tin Man and Limato, winner of the 2016 Prix de la Floret.

Big Orange and Order Of St George fought out an epic battle for the Gold Cup in June and could clash again in the British Champions Long Distance Cup.

The Aidan O'Brien-trained Order Of St George, part-owned by Australian Lloyd Williams, finished fourth in Sunday's Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe won by Enable.

Other hopefuls among 31 horses still in the mix include Goodwood Cup winner Stradivarius and Desert Skyline, third at Goodwood before winning the Doncaster Cup.
