Rawiller appeals severity of suspension

Friday 20 October 2017, 2:29pm

Jockey Brad Rawiller has appealed the severity of a careless riding suspension which will rule him out of the two-day Cox Plate carnival.

Rawiller was outed for 14 meetings after pleading guilty to careless riding on Articus in Thursday's Moe Cup.

He will have a hearing before the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board in Melbourne on Monday.

The ban is due to start after Saturday's Caulfield Cup meeting and run until after the day meeting on Friday, November 3.

As things stand Rawiller will miss Group One Manikato Stakes night at Moonee Valley on Friday week and the Cox Plate meeting the following day.

He has not requested a stay of proceedings.
