Tactical Advantage to start for Joe Pride

Wednesday 25 October 2017, 3:48pm

Tactical Advantage is poised to make his race debut for Joe Pride after joining the Warwick Farm trainer with fellow Gooree Stud-owned Passage of Time.

The duo were transferred to Pride when James Cummings took up the head training role at Godolphin in July.

Passage Of Time has had two starts in his new environment for one win and Pride is now keen to see if his stablemate can do the same.

Tactical Advantage, who lines up in a Benchmark 86 Handicap (1000m) at Randwick on Saturday, boasts a record to suggest Pride has an excellent acquisition.

He has five wins and three placings from 10 starts including a short neck second to All Over Bosanova in the Listed Daybreak Lover Plate (1200m) at Doomben in June.

Tactical Advantage beat All Over Bosanova by the same margin at their previous meeting and was touted as a possible Stradbroke Handicap contender.

He failed to make the field and lined up in the Daybreak Lover on the same day.

The four-year-old also boasts a third in the Listed Darby Munro Stakes so a step up in class looms providing he makes a sound comeback.

Tactical Advantage first trialled for Pride on October 9 and zeroed in on his next assignment with a third behind Marsupial and Royal Casino over 801 metres at Warwick Farm on Tuesday.

"We haven't taken him to the races yet so we'll reserve judgment but he seems like he's in really good order," Pride said.

Passage Of Time is also set to race at the Randwick meeting in a Benchmark 83 Handicap (1400m) after a fourth in a Benchmark 79 Handicap (1250m) at last week's Canterbury meeting.
