Ben Currie cements top ten place

Thursday 26 October 2017, 8:32am

A winning double for Ben Currie at Ipswich has him firmly in Brisbane's top ten trainers and he hopes to continue the run at Doomben.

Toowoomba-based Currie leads the state premiership on 40 winners which has him well on the way to going better than his 2016/17 total of 107.

"It has been out aim to get into the top ten trainers in Brisbane and we are off to the right start," Currie said.

The wins of Hang and Amanaat at Ipswich on Wednesday took Currie to fourth in the metropolitan premiership with 10 winners and both are headed to Saturday racing.

In the meantime, Currie has a strong hand on Saturday at Doomben with Cantbuybetter(Open Hcp), With A Promise (Open Hcp), Girl In A Million (Three Year Old), Now You See (Class 6 Plate), and High Africaine (Benchmark 75).

Currie has rewarded apprentice Michael Murphy with the rides on Girl In A Million and Now You See.

"He won on Amanaat for us on Wednesday and I think I have put him on four times for four wins. His three kilogram claim is valuable," Currie said.
