McEvoy favours Roomooz back at the Valley

Tony McEvoy is expecting talented filly Roomooz to bounce back to her best form at Moonee Valley.

The three-year-old won first-up at the Valley in August before two sub-par performances that left the trainer scratching his head.

McEvoy ran extensive tests on the filly and believes she's ready to get back into winning form in Saturday's 1200m-Crockett Stakes.

"We sent her off to Ballarat for scintigraphy which showed general jarring up," McEvoy said.

"I think she was feeling the ground."

McEvoy thought highly enough of the filly following her first-up win over Tulip to consider a Thousand Guineas program which was aborted after she finished sixth in the Prelude (1400m) at Caulfield on October 1.

McEvoy said a stakes victory would add to her value as a future broodmare.

"She's a winner at the Valley so I just want to get a bit of black type on her," McEvoy said.

"She's a very good filly with a big page and that race she won first-up, it's a tragedy it's not a black type race when she beat Tulip, so that's cruel."

The slight break also resulted in McEvoy re-thinking his training of the filly, giving her lighter work.

"I think I've got her back where she was," McEvoy said.

"She went into the wilderness there for a while because I think she was feeling her bones."

Roomooz is currently a $12 chance and is pitted against a handy field of fillies including Limestone ($7), Jorda ($6) and the undefeated Demerara who is marked as the $2.20 favourite.
