Test The World faces new challenge

Wednesday 22 November 2017, 1:56pm

Test The World approaches her third preparation with the challenge of proving she is capable of racing above benchmark level.

Trainer Bjorn Baker has not yet set the bar particularly high for the four-year-old mare but Test The World has a point to prove at Rosehill on Saturday.

She has won five of her eight races since a successful first start at Scone on Boxing Day last year and has never finished worse than third.

However, tougher tasks ideally loom for Test The World with a Brisbane summer campaign and Listed or Group races in Sydney over autumn the aim.

"I think she can be a black-type filly in time. The penny hasn't really dropped with her," Baker's stable foreman Jack Bruce said.

"It's just a matter of when she mentally turns the corner."

Test The World has an opportunity to prove she is tracking for greater achievements when resuming in a benchmark 80 handicap, her first start since June.

Bruce said he was satisfied with her lead-up work and two barrier trials at Canterbury and Kembla Grange.

Test The World is among a 11-strong field, which includes unbeaten Jason Deamer-trained gelding Bon Amis.

The four-year-old is seeking his fifth victory, a fortnight after winning his first start at Rosehill.

Baker also has Positive Problems second-up in a benchmark 82 handicap, while Gold Ambition returns from a spell to line up in a benchmark 90.
