Don't Tease Me the first to beat Bon Amis

Saturday 25 November 2017, 6:24pm

Don't Tease Me has put an end to Bon Amis' winning streak at Rosehill courtesy of a perfectly timed front-running ride by apprentice Rachel Hunt.

The Stephen Gleeson-trained Don't Tease Me ($20) went straight to the front in the Goldners Horse Transport Handicap (1100m) and held on to beat $2.30 favourite Bon Amis by half a length, with Test The World ($7.50) another half-neck in third.

Hunt says her plan was to lead early but she thought the pack would catch her late because Don't Tease Me wanted to go out hard.

"I knew I had them covered until about 200 (metres) out and then I could hear them coming," Hunt said.

"I just tried to sit on him as long as I could and he kicked again at the end."

Previously unbeaten four-year-old Bon Amis had won four races from four starts going into Saturday's race.

Rory Hutchings, who rode Bon Amis to his past two wins, says he has not lost any expectations for the gelding.

"After leading the other day he was just a little bit keen. It would have been nice if I had cover," he said.
