Performer Slipper favourite in 1st market

Tuesday 28 November 2017, 5:20pm

The Chris Waller-trained Performer is the $8 favourite in first markets to give Sydney's premier trainer his first win in the $3.5 million Golden Slipper.

Waller has only had a handful of Slipper runners and Performer is one of the few he has had up and running early, winning the Breeders' Plate on the season's first day of two-year-old racing in Sydney on September 30.

Breeders' Plate runner-up Bondi from the Peter and Paul Snowden stable is next in the TAB's first market at $11 with Godolphin's Elessedil and the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained Setsuna both at $15.

Setsuna is the most experienced of the market leaders having raced three times for a second to Satin Slipper in the Gimcrack Stakes on the same day as the Breeders' Plate.

She has since won the Inglis Banner at Moonee Valley and most recently the Group Three Emirates A380 Stakes at Flemington on November 7.

Satin Slipper, also trained by the Snowdens, is in a group on $26 for the 1200m-race on March 24..
