Bookmakers believe Habibi is the one to beat in the Australian Oaks and Dear Demi's trainer Clarry Conners is certain she poses the only threat to his stable star.
The winner of the New Zealand Derby, Habibi finished third in the Vinery Stud Stakes with Dear Demi fifth, another three lengths behind.
It was a run Conners would prefer to put down to experience as he looks ahead to round two.
"Habibi is the only one to beat," Conners said.
"I think Dear Demi has it over the others but the New Zealand filly is the one."
The blinkers will come off Dear Demi in an attempt to get her in the right frame of mind to add the Sydney classic to her win in the VRC Oaks in the spring.
"She's had them on since she was a two-year-old," Conners said.
"I was going to take them off last year but she was winning sprint races with them on.
"Jimmy (Cassidy) worked her on Tuesday morning without them and over the longer distance this time I think she will be better."
While Conners is confident Dear Demi will improve on her Vinery performance, Donna Logan is equally certain Habibi has benefited greatly from her first Australian start.
The filly has been beaten just twice in eight starts and Logan can draw comparisons between her two third placings.
"She is going into the Oaks very much like she went into the Derby," Logan said.
"She'd had seven weeks off going into the Avondale Guineas and ran third then came out and won the Derby.
"She'd been off for five weeks before the Vinery and will have improved with that run.
"She didn't cope with the turning track at Rosehill and she will be much better suited at Randwick.
"She's thriving in Australia. She's put on weight since the Vinery and I'm pretty pleased."
Habibi's regular partner Vinny Colgan recently took up a position with Tony McEvoy in South Australia on the understanding he could ride Habibi in Sydney.
Vinery winner Norzita is the second favourite for Saturday's Doncaster Mile but runner-up Longport will be in the Oaks as a challenger to the big two while Adrian Knox Stakes winner Royal Descent could be withdrawn if the predicted track downgrade happens.
Those four are the only runners under double figures on TAB Fixed Odds with New Zealand Oaks winner More Than Sacred at $11.
