Blue Book makes it three on end at Doomben

Saturday 9 December 2017, 2:12pm

Trainer Kelly Doughty has two reasons to be happy after her smart gelding Blue Book made it three wins from as many starts at Doomben.

Blue Book ($3.30) won his previous two starts leading all of the way but he was taken on for the lead and headed on Saturday.

However, Blue Book finished best to beat Fullazaboot ($2.50) by three-quarters of a length, with a half a length to King Of The North ($6.50) in the two-year-old (1200m).

Doughty revealed there had been several offers for Blue Book and she had been worried she might lose him.

"But his owner-breeder (Phil Sullivan) won't sell him and it's great to know I will still have him," Doughty said.

"Not many two-year-olds win three races before Christmas and he can go for a spell now, with probably the Brisbane winter carnival his main aim."

"He's a big boy and I think he will be a really good three-year-old once he matures."

Jockey Michael Rodd said Blue Book had been spooked by a horse inside him and had done well to get balanced again and win.

Fullazaboot ran home strongly and was taking ground off the winner at the finish.

Trainer Stuart Kendrick said Fullazaboot was headed for the Magic Millions Classic on January 13.

"He picked up $10,800 today to go with his $40,000 for his first-up win so that should get him into the Magic Millions," Kendrick said.
