Most Important's failure in Melbourne remains a mystery but trainer Tony Gollan is confident the gelding can give him a third straight-win in the Listed Lough Neagh Stakes at Doomben.

Gollan has dominated the Brisbane summer carnival in recent years with 11 feature winners including the past two Lough Neagh Stakes with Fontelina and Most Important.

He has a strong team on Saturday with his two-year-olds Ef Troop (Phelan Ready Stakes) and Outback Barbie (Calaway Gal Stakes) expected to fly the stable flag.

But Gollan is growing in confidence with Most Important who won the Lough Neagh last year as the middle leg of his Brisbane summer sprint treble.

Gollan took Most Important to Melbourne in the spring after deliberately missing the winter carnival with the gelding.

Most Important ran poorly, finishing last in both his starts at Caulfield.

"I don't know what happened in Melbourne. A lot of horses hate Caulfield and maybe he is one," Gollan said.

"But we brought him back here and he is trialling and racing well and getting back to his best."

Most Important was fourth behind Monsieur Gustave in the Group Three George Moore Stakes two weeks ago.

"He got some interference early in the George Moore, and ended up out three-wide. But he hit the line solidly and the extra trip on Saturday will help," Gollan said.
