Baker cautious about Miss Invincible

Friday 15 December 2017, 6:05pm

Bjorn Baker isn't entirely comfortable with Miss Invincible's favouritism for the Inglis Nursery for emerging two-year-olds at Randwick.

The filly made an encouraging start to her career when runner-up to Perfect Pitch in an 1100m Plate at Rosehill earlier this month.

Based on that performance, she was the TAB's $3.70 favourite on Friday for the Inglis Nursery (1000m) a day later.

"She's well, but it's never an easy race on Saturday. There's a lot of promising horses there," Baker said.

"Her first-up run was good. The distance should suit and she'll roll forward. She's got a heap of speed. It's just whether she's strong enough at the finish."

Miss Invincible is the Warwick Farm trainer's first horse out of I Am Invincible, a stallion who has produced 24 stakes winner.

Baker bought Miss Invincible for $100,000 at the Inglis Classic Sale and will decide whether she heads to the Inglis Classic (1200m) at Warwick Farm on February 10 after Saturday's run.

Miss Invincible was the fourth two-year-old from the stable this season following Greyt Love, First Time Lucky and Countercurrent.

"I haven't produced too many, but at this stage she's definitely one of the promising ones," Baker said.

Lagarde joined the newcomers when she was second on debut in a 2YO Handicap at Muswellbrook last Friday.
