Family affair for Gollan in Doomben win

Saturday 16 December 2017, 1:53pm

Premier trainer Tony Gollan was under more pressure than usual from his owners before I'm A Rippa won at Doomben on Saturday.

Golan needed not to worried as I'm A Rippa ($4.80) bounced straight to the lead and scored by two lengths to Eminent ($4.80) in the Makers Mark Plate (1350m).

I'm A Rippa scored his fourth win and lifted his prize money to more than $200,000 for his owners who include Gollan's wife Jane.

"We bought I'm A Rippa as a Magic Millions Classic horse and there are a lot of women in the horse because we were chasing the bonus in that race for women owners," Gollan said.

"He didn't win the Classic but now he is a four-year-old and I will try and get him into the Magic Millions QTIS race next month."

I'm A Rippa was ridden by Gollan's apprentice Zoe White who is starting to make her mark in the city after starting her career in Rockhampton.

"Zoe is starting to get it all together now. She is getting them out of the barrier quickly and she has her timing right on leaders," Gollan said.

"I think she can go on to ride plenty of winners in coming months."
