Ben Thompson to appeal careless riding ban

Monday 18 December 2017, 6:02pm

Apprentice Ben Thompson has lodged an appeal against a 12-meeting careless riding suspension incurred at Caulfield.

Thompson is appealing the decision of Racing Victoria stewards to suspend him as well as the severity of the ban.

He was outed for causing interference aboard Written In Stone in Saturday's Moorookyle Park Handicap in which the Ryusei Sakai-ridden Good Therapy was checked.

Thompson rode a double at Saturday's meeting on Shoreham and Ozi Choice and rode another winner, Graceful Storm, at Bendigo on Sunday.

Thompson's appeal will be heard by the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board at 9am on Wednesday.
