Ben Thompson fails in RAD Board appeal

Wednesday 20 December 2017, 1:14pm

Apprentice Ben Thompson has failed in his bid to have a careless riding suspension overturned by the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board.

Thompson fronted the RAD Board on Wednesday to appeal the decision of stewards and the severity of a 12-meeting ban incurred at Caulfield on Saturday.

Racing Victoria stewards suspended Thompson for shifting out on Written In Stone near the 300m of the Moorookyle Park Handicap causing Good Therapy to be checked.

Thompson did not ask for a stay of proceedings and began his suspension after riding at Bendigo on Sunday when he rode Graceful Storm to victory, which followed a double at Caulfield the previous day.

He will return to race riding at Sandown on December 30.
