Apprentices suspended for careless riding

Saturday 23 December 2017, 6:41pm

Apprentices Jean van Overmeire and Lee Magorrian have been suspended at Warwick Farm.

The duo pleaded guilty to careless riding in relation to separate incidents in the Highway Handicap.

Van Overmeire was outed for six meetings after allowing his mount, the third placegetter Volpe, to shift out and impede Mate Story.

His ban starts on January 2 and he is free the resume riding on January 14.

Magorrian copped a three-meeting suspension after Mate Story crossed over at the 1200m when insufficiently clear of Kathy O'Hara's mount O'Lordy.

He also starts his ban on January 2 and returns five days later.
