Love to rocket into Maiden calculations

Sunday 7 January 2018, 4:35pm

Sydney filly Dinnigan is expected make the field for the Magic Millions Guineas throwing open the race for Australia's richest maiden at the Gold Coast.

Dinnigan ran second in the Group Three Vo Rogue Plate at Doomben two weeks ago and will head to the $250,000 Magic Millions Maiden if she misses a run in the Magic Million Guineas.

But she seems more likely to get a Guineas run which will be good news for several other trainers.

Robert Heathcote has a worthy contender for the Maiden in Love And Rock It who won a jump-out by a long way on the Eagle Farm A Grass on Friday.

Love And Rock It was second at his only start at the Sunshine Coast in October and he has since won a trial at Doomben on December 12.

Heathcote has aimed Love And Rock It at the Magic Millions Maiden for several months.

"The jump-out on Friday was perfect for him. I have a bit of an opinion of him and we might as well aim for the big money," Heathcote said.

"I am told he is in the field so all we need is a decent barrier."

Will Hulbert is hoping three-year-old Excelebrazione can also run a big race in the Maiden after a jump-out on Friday.

The gelding has run four minor placings in strong company and trialled well last month as well as the jump-out.

"He won his jump-out well and he is primed for the Millions but under the rules of the race he might miss out as I have him number 20 on the entry list," Hulbert said.

"Apparently, it is on prize money at their last four starts which of course suits the NSW and Victorian horses who earn more for a place at a provincial than we do for a midweek metropolitan second."

Hulbert and his father Peter, who train together, will saddle Endless Days in the Magic Millions Trophy.
