The English riding stint jockey Jake Noonan planned to commence in the next few days has been put on hold while immigration issues are overcome.
Noonan, who recently completed his apprenticeship in Victoria, had planned to join the Newbury stable of Andrew Balding for the remainder of the English flat racing season.
But red tape at the English end means he won't leave Australia until the end of May.
"I could have gone over when I planned to but there could have been problems with things like insurance and other details," Noonan said.
"Because I'll be contracted to Ian Balding they needed him to sponsor me, and that hasn't been sorted out yet."
While the delay is frustrating, Noonan said he would still ride in England for the six months he intended.
"It's still going to work out, it's just frustrating - I thought I'd be packing my bags this week," he said.
Noonan, meanwhile, is making the most of the delay as he keeps the winners rolling in, landing his 41st win for the season on Baker Boy at Mornington on Wednesday.
