Lady Horseowner takes out Fillies Preview

Saturday 27 January 2018, 1:13pm

Pint-sized two-year-old Lady Horseowner could have earned herself a late entry into the Blue Diamond with a fast-finishing win in the fillies Blue Diamond Preview at Caulfield.

The Greg Eurell-trained Lady Horseowner returned from a let-up and made it two wins from as many starts in Saturday's Group Three 1000m race for two-year-old fillies.

"She has the best determination to win," jockey Nikita Beriman said.

"She's not big but she's got a big heart and she's very professional."

Lady Horseowner is not among entries for next month's $1.5 million Blue Diamond but connections have the option of paying a late entry.

"I'll talk to Greg, but look, why not," owner Paul King said.

"On that run, you'd have to give it a go, wouldn't you."

In contrast to her debut win at Moonee Valley when she raced on the pace, Lady Horseowner ($10) settled midfield on Saturday before bursting through between runners in the final 100m to defeat Crossing The Abbey ($5.50) by a neck.

Oohood ($4.20) was an eye-catching third, weaving between runners from back in the field before flashing home.

"It was a big effort today," Eurell said.

"I thought it was a big effort in her first start but to do what she did today, and in an entirely different style to her debut, full credit to the filly and Nikita," Eurell said.

"Everything she has done, she has done very professionally."

Estijaab, an impressive debut winner in Sydney last week, was the $7 favourite for the Group One Blue Diamond (1200m) on February 24 in a revised market after Saturday's Previews, with Oohood firming to $8.

Long Leaf is in to $9 after he maintained an unbeaten start to his career from three starts with his half-length victory in Saturday's Blue Diamond Preview for colts and geldings.
