On paper at least, Tony McEvoy will hold a home ground advantage in Saturday's Rowley Mile at Hawkesbury.

Import Mouro will be among McEvoy's first runners out of his new training complex at the track following the announcement this week the South Australian-based horseman had bought Bylong Park.

The property, which includes 48 boxes and backs on to Hawkesbury racetrack, was formerly leased by Patinack Farm.

The chance to set up a NSW base came sooner than expected for McEvoy but he is thrilled to have secured the complex.

"We just felt this was a jewel this property, and it wouldn't be around for long so we decided to move on it," McEvoy said.

"It's going to be a bit of work but I'm committed to it. I've still got the energy and drive to do it."

In the immediate term, McEvoy will split his time between his Barossa Valley operation and Hawkesbury.

He will be taking a patient approach to the set-up of the complex and "won't be rushing around to fill it".

The first of his team arrived on Wednesday when he transferred six horses he had temporarily stabled at Randwick to their new home.

Among them was Mouro who will be striving for a breakthrough stakes success in the Rowley Mile.

Following consultation with jockey Glyn Schofield, McEvoy has made some important changes in light of Mouro's last start second at Warwick Farm.

"I just felt the other day that he was entitled to win that race," McEvoy said.

"Round the corner I thought he had the leaders covered and so did Glyn ... he didn't quite finish the race off as well as he should have.

"Glyn felt he may have been playing with his tongue so I thought I'd put blinkers on him for the first time and a tongue tie for the first time."

Mouro showed ability at his initial Australian campaign posting back-to-back wins in Adelaide and finishing runner-up to the smart Lord Of Brazil at Moonee Valley.

A half-brother to two-time Hong Kong Cup winner California Memory, Mouro will head to Brisbane after Saturday with McEvoy keen to test him over more ground.

"My aim is to get his rating up so when the spring comes I can get him into some of the races I want to get him into," McEvoy said.

It will be a busy afternoon for McEvoy on Saturday with his team spread across three states.

Along with Mouro he will start Saint Desir at the stand-alone Hawkesbury meeting and will also have runners in Adelaide and Melbourne.
