New Zealand trainer Lisa Latta has two horses confirmed for the Brisbane winter carnival but a third will depend on what happens at Hawkesbury on Saturday.
Latta is looking to Platinum Kingdom making it two Australian wins from as many starts in the $150,000 Hawkesbury Guineas to confirm Queensland plans.
Platinum Kingdom gave a demonstration of his talent as well as his sometimes difficult nature in winning the South Pacific Classic at Randwick last month.
The win didn't come without incident as the three-year-old dumped jockey Jonathan Riddell on the way to the barrier.
He added to his roguish reputation when he tried to throw the race away once he reached the lead.
Any other jockey than Riddell and Latta says the result might have been different.
"As he showed, the horse can be a bit of a handful but Jonathan is such a great horseman," Latta said.
Platinum Kingdom enhanced a sound New Zealand record with his Randwick win and the Hawkesbury Guineas, in which he is challenging Complicate for favouritism is another opportunity to confirm his promise.
"He has been up a while but in saying that he does enjoy being in work," Latta said.
"It's a case of one step at a time with him but if he does go well again at Hawkesbury we'll look at taking him to Brisbane.
"I've got two others coming over next week."
