Talented apprentice Anthony Allen has made a perfect start to his time in Sydney, clinching his first NSW metropolitan win at Rosehill on Saturday.

The 20-year-old steered the Anthony Cummings trained filly Agueda to victory at the ATC Membership Handicap (1200) at Rosehill, successfully marking his entry into the metropolitan races in Sydney.

Allen's win came at his first Sydney Saturday meeting and just three days after he moved from Queensland.

Allen said he was happy with his win, considering it was it his first time racing "with the big guns" in Sydney.

The talented rider is on loan to trainer Gerald Ryan for three months.

Allen also rode for Ryan on Saturday, finishing unplaced aboard Straiffic earlier in the day.

Trainer Anthony Cummings said while Agueda's light weight, 51kg, helped the filly to the win, he also praised Allen as an up and coming talent to watch.

"This young bloke from Queensland has a bright future, and did a very good job for us today," Cummings said.

"It all came together well."

Allen has already ridden his way into the Queensland record books. He recorded a quintet of winners at Doomben on July 14, where he won aboard Double Image, Modern Warfare, Racing Heart, Lucky Luna and Bradbury Chocolate.
