Land Of Plenty back on board at Flemington

Saturday 5 May 2018, 4:21pm

The Darren Weir stable will consider a trip to Adelaide for Land Of Plenty after he scored an impressive win at Flemington.

Now with his fourth trainer in a 19 start career, Land Of Plenty took out Saturday's Australian Trainers Association Handicap (1400m).

Land Of Plenty started his career with Shane Nichols before stints with Mick Price and Grahame Begg.

Ridden by Daniel Moor, Land Of Plenty was sent off the $2.05 favourite in beating Sovereign Nation ($10) by 1-1/4 lengths, with Amovatio ($19) a long neck away third.

With Weir interstate saddling runners in Adelaide, stable spokesperson Sarah Worker said the plan was to run Land Of Plenty in the Robert A Lee Stakes at Morphettville on May 19.

"The idea is to look at a Group Three race in Adelaide in a fortnight's time," she said.

"Naturally Darren will make that decision after he sees how the horse pulls up and how he trains."

Land Of Plenty's win provided a race-to-race double for Moor after Another Bullseye took out the Living Legend John "Patto" Patterson Handicap.

Moor rides occasionally for Weir and said it was a pleasure to take advantage of the opportunity, calling Land Of Plenty a class horse.

"He travelled really well and when I asked him to go he sprinted really sharp and had enough under his belt to hold them off late," Moor said.

"It's a pleasure riding Darren Weir's horses. They just go when you want them to and I'm just appreciative that I got the steer."
