Careless riding ban for Jason Collett

Saturday 5 May 2018, 5:34pm

Sydney jockey Jason Collett has been suspended for careless riding after guiding unbeaten colt Gem Song to victory in the TAB Rewards Handicap at Rosehill.

Collett pleaded guilty when Racing NSW stewards charged him after the Kris Lees-trained two-year-old shifted out and caused interference to Brenton Avdulla's mount, Knockout Girl, at the 250m mark.

Knockout Girl eventually finished sixth while Gem Song recorded his second successive victory by claiming the 1100m race by half a head.

Collett was suspended for five meetings from May 13. He can resume riding on May 24.
